Rinus Michels Award
Feyenoord Academy has been awarded the Rinus Michels Award for best youth academy in the Netherlands five times since 2009. No other academy in the world produced more players for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where eleven former Feyenoord Academy players were active. No surprise then, that the academy is prominent both at home and abroad.
Feyenoord Youth Academy staff
The trainers form the foundation of our successful youth academy. A fixed group of trainers, of which many have played at the highest level themselves (such as Dirk Kuyt and Roy Makaay), work with the youth players daily. Other key roles include several specialists: a video analyst, nutritionist, physical trainer, physiotherapist, and mental coach. Feyenoord Academy works together with a select group of sports schools to create the right environment and mentality.
There is a lot of interest in the Feyenoord Academy methodology worldwide. Feyenoord strives to advance global football by sharing knowledge and information with other coaches. Feyenoord has an international department that offers programs varying from consultancy to football schools and seminars, camps, and clinics. For more information and contact details, please visit Feyenoord International.
Across the road from De Kuip and right next to the first team’s own facilities, Varkenoord training complex provides the base for the youth academy. Here you will find five pitches and a modern, multifunctional building with all the required facilities, creating an ideal setting for the staff and players.
