Feyenoord ready for final test

Feyenoord is ready for the final preseason test. Ronald Koeman’s squad trained at a warm and sunny Varkenoord on Tuesday for the last time ahead of Wednesday evening’s big friendly against Real Mallorca. Koeman will have a virtually full squad to choose from against the Spaniards.

The coach was able to run the rule over Omar Elabdellaoui in training for the first time. The striker arrived in the country on Sunday after a loan was agreed with his club Manchester City. Koeman admits that the Norwegian could play against Real Mallorca. ‘He already has a number of weeks of preseason under his belt at Manchester City, so he’s fit.’

Ron Vlaar is also available for selection. The defender has attracted interest from Aston Villa this summer, but during Sunday’s Open Day he said that it was unlikely he would be joining the Premier league club. Vlaar is now expected to start against Real Mallorca.

‘This game is an important final test in the run-up to the Champions League qualifying round,’ said Koeman. ‘Real Mallorca finished eighth in the Spanish league last season so it's a good opponent to show us where we stand.’
