Feyenoord recorded a fairly comfortable victory in Saturday's away friendly against FC Dordrecht, the Rotterdammers first professional test this preseason. Ronald Koeman, who opted to play with two strikers against the second-tier outfit, saw his side run out 5-1 winners. Three of Feyenoord's goals came in a productive spell in the last fifteen minutes of the first half. Sekou Cissé and Ruben Schaken netted two each, with Anass Achahbar adding a fifth goal after the break.
It was the first match against professional opponents since the squad returned to preseason training and an opportunity for coach Koeman to try out some new options. Feyenoord had started the past four fixtures against amateur opposition in a 4-3-3 formation. But at the GN Bouw Stadium Koeman began with Ruben Schaken and Sekou Cissé up front.
Feyenoord exploited the speed of the attacking duo to the full in the first half. Koeman's men quickly got back goalside when they lost the ball and broke fast when they won it back. Three of the four opening-half goals came that way. Each time, Schaken or Cissé was on hand to finish.
The two strikers were finding each other with ease and both of them netted twice within the first 42 minutes. Cissé was put through twice and calmly passed the ball into the net on both occasions. Schaken's first was an elegant chip over keeper Hahn; ten minutes later Cissé set up Schaken's second, a tap in at the back post.
FC Dordrecht was very much in the game before Feyenoord's second goal and the home side got back on level terms midway through the first half. Defender Josimar Lima scored with a spectacular overhead kick after the Rotterdammers had given away a cheap corner.
Koeman introduced nine new players at the break, but continued to play with two up front. The virtually new team created fewer chances than in the first half. The only goal of the second period came from Anass Achahbar, who had come on ten minutes after the restart for Mitchell Te Vrede, himself a half-time sub. The striker set up Guyon Fernandez, whose shot hit the keeper, but the ball fell to Achahbar, who netted.
