MUSCLE DAMAGE FOR TOMASSON

Jon Dahl Tomasson suffered hamstring muscle damage in last weekend’s win against PSV. The striker is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks and has already told Denmark national coach Morten Olsen that he will not be available for selection for the up-and-coming international matches. ‘I’m really down about it, the more so because I picked up the injury in such an absurd way,’ Tomasson said Wednesday afternoon.

The second half had just got underway when Jon Dahl suddenly fell to the deck with no opponent in sight. The initial diagnosis was hamstring problems and two separate scans Monday and Wednesday confirmed that opinion. The Dane has suffered muscle damage and will be out of action for a couple of weeks. ‘Injuries never come at the right time, but this is even more annoying than usual,’ Tomasson admitted. ‘Things started to go well and I could finally be of value to Feyenoord again in an important period for the club. It’s tough to now have to miss two crucial internationals for Denmark too. But that’s just how it is and I’ll work very hard to come back again.’
