FEYENOORD HANDED MOSCOW AND LA CORUNA TIES IN UEFA CUP

Feyenoord have been matched against CSKA Moscow, Deportivo La Coruña, AS Nancy and Lech Poznan in the group stage of the Uefa Cup. The draw took place Tuesday lunchtime in Nyon, Switzerland, under the watchful eye of Feyenoord’s general director Eric Gudde and financial director Onno Jacobs. Deportivo La Coruña is of course one of Roy Makaay’s former clubs, and the present employer of Jonathan de Guzman’s brother Julian. Feyenoord’s last meeting with AS Nancy two years ago meanwhile was one of the club’s darkest days. Violence erupted at Stade Marcel Picot, leading directly to Feyenoord’s one-year expulsion from the Uefa Cup.

The matchdays will be announced later on Tuesday afternoon. The first round of matches is Thursday 23 October.
