ANDRÉ BAHIA EXTENDS DEAL TILL 2012

Feyenoord and André Bahia have agreed an extension to the Brazilian’s contract until 2012. The 24-year-old has been at De Kuip since January 2005, since when he has made 116 official appearances for the club, scoring eleven times. The left-footed defender from Rio de Janeiro has been more or less a regular in the side over the past three seasons.

‘André is a defender a coach can always rely on,’ explains technical manager Peter Bosz. ‘It’s not coincidental that he is the player with the most appearances over the past few years. What’s more, both Gertjan Verbeek and myself feel that he can still improve. He has considerable experience and is physically very strong, but he is still only 24.’

Speaking from Rio de Janeiro, André Bahia expressed his delight at the new deal. ‘I’ve always said that I want to stay at Feyenoord for as long as possible. I feel at home at this club and in Rotterdam. I want to take it to a new level together with Feyenoord and I am happy with the appreciation this entails.’
