The coaching line-up is complete for next season. Gertjan Verbeek’s second assistant alongside Leon Vlemmings will be Wim Jansen. ‘We are delighted that Gertjan Verbeek will have such excellent support bearing in mind the specific qualities of Leon Vlemmings and Wim Jansen. In our eyes this is the staff we need,’ said technical manager Peter Bosz. Björn Rekelhof will be the fitness and power trainer. Alex Pastoor will coach the reserve side.

Club icon Wim Jansen returned to Feyenoord in the summer of 2006. The former player, coach and technical manager came back to the De Kuip fold as a technical consultant after a long time away. Jansen has been a valuable member of the team since his return, so it’s perhaps no surprise that he will have a more hands-on role next term. ‘Wim has seen it all, which definitely adds value to his position,’ said Bosz.

‘With all the people we recruited, we looked at what they could add to the team. The same goes for Björn Rekelhof, with whom Gertjan worked at Heerenveen, just like Alex Pastoor. This is a real team. That was the intention.’

Patrick Lodewijks will join Verbeek, Vlemmings and Jansen on the training pitch as of 5 July, as goalkeeping coach just like last season. René Dannenburg will coordinate the medical staff. His team comprises physiotherapists Mikael Kuypers, Dennis Lion, Marcel de Geus and carer Gerard Meijer. Next season will be the fiftieth at the club for Meijer.
