ALI BOUSSABOUN BOUND FOR QATAR

Ali Boussaboun is poised to sign a contract with Qatar side Al-Wakrah Sport Club. The Moroccan international was told that he was free to seek a new challenge and spent a spell on loan at FC Utrecht last season after failing to secure a deal at Blackburn Rovers.

Ali Boussaboun arrived at De Kuip in summer 2005, making a respectable 25 appearances despite tough competition from Kuyt, Kalou and Castelen. After Kuyt’s departure to Liverpool, Boussaboun was hoping to make himself a first-team regular, but it was a dream he never quite realised. The striker played eleven times last season before switching to Utrecht, where he played a further nine games. Boussaboun’s failure to find the net may have been the determining factor in Utrecht’s decision not to take up the first-refusal option included in the loan agreement.
