FEYENOORD AND ERWIN KOEMAN AGREE TO PART METGOD AND DUUT TAKE ON CARETAKER ROLE

Feyenoord and Erwin Koeman have taken the joint decision to cancel the coach’s contract with the club as of 30 June. Koeman’s contract was originally scheduled to run until 1 July 2009, but he will now give up his duties as head coach of Feyenoord with immediate effect.

Feyenoord and Erwin Koeman arrived at the decision together after Erwin Koeman admitted that he lacked maximum motivation to continue in the role.

Feyenoord is saddened by the departure of Erwin Koeman, but respects his decision. Erwin Koeman has always shown great commitment to the club in often exceptionally difficult circumstances and has always represented the club in a highly dignified manner. Feyenoord is highly appreciative and thankful to Erwin Koeman for this.

Feyenoord is now considering its response to the new situation and shall make an announcement on Erwin Koeman’s successor in the short term. In the meantime, Erwin Koeman’s duties will be assumed by assistant coaches John Metgod and Henk Duut.
