UEFA IMPOSE FINE AND SUSPENDED SENTENCE

Feyenoord has been fined 200,000 Swiss francs (around 130,000 euros) for the disturbances prior to and during the club’s match at AS Nancy and for the throwing of beer and the lighting of fireworks during the match against Blackburn Rovers. UEFA also imposed a suspended sentence on the club. It means that Feyenoord will be forced to play two matches behind closed doors if it infringes the association’s rules again within three years. UEFA has also ordered Feyenoord to contact AS Nancy to discuss the damage inflicted on the French club’s stadium.

Feyenoord will not be appealing the decision. More news to follow.
