DRENTHE A DOUBT AFTER LIMPING OUT OF TRAINING

Royston Drenthe’s availability in the Uefa Cup tie at AS Nancy is uncertain after the left back was forced to leave Tuesday training early with a painful knee. Drenthe suffered a kick against NEC. ‘I missed Monday training and took painkillers. It wasn’t giving me any trouble this morning, but it’s playing up again now,’ explained the youngster, who was clearly in pain. Drenthe himself remains hopefully about playing against the French side on Thursday however.

‘Playing with a bit of pain is not a problem, I just have to make it. That’s why I’ve come off now. I don’t want to push things,’ said Drenthe.

Pieter Collen meanwhile returned to light motion work on the training pitch Tuesday. The Belgian underwent surgery on his shoulder in early October and will not return to the squad until after the winter break.
