KUYT, TIMMER IN ORANJE, VLAAR MISSES OUT

Feyenoord players Dirk Kuyt and Henk Timmer have been called up to the Dutch national team squad by Marco van Basten for Wednesday’s friendly at Lansdowne Road, Dublin against Ireland. Although included in the provisional squad, Ron Vlaar has not made the cut, while Romeo Castelen misses out due to injury. Former De Kuip stars George Boateng and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have also been left out of the squad.

Van Bronckhorst was overlooked by Van Basten due to a suspension that rules him out of the national team’s opening Euro 2008 qualifier against Luxembourg 2 September, after the player was sent out in the World Cup second round match against Portugal, when another three players were given their marching orders.
