Erwin Koeman may have to do without Maikel Aerts when Feyenoord take on ADO Den Haag Sunday. The keeper is troubled by a shoulder strain picked up in a painful collision in the defeat at AZ. Aerts spent Thursday in the gym and is not expected to return to the training pitch before Saturday. It all means that Koeman will probably not be able to name a keeper until the day of the match Egypt goalie Sherif Ekramy remains on stand-by to make his debut.
‘I’m still in pain from the incident when I landed unfortunately and AZ got their goal,’ confirmed Aerts. ‘It’s a real drag. I haven’t trained outside since and I’ll probably stay in the gym on Friday too. I hope to be back on the pitch on Saturday. Hopefully I’ll be fit in time for the ADO game.’
The absence of Aerts would be a headache for Koeman bearing in mind that first-choice keeper Patrick Lodewijks is also sidelined.
