SAIDI IN LECCE LOAN SWITCH

Karim Saidi will play out the rest of the season in the town of Lecce after agreeing a loan deal with the Serie A club that also secures the Italians an option to purchase the player. The 22-year-old Tunisian is desperate to play in the run-up to Germany 2006, but has seen himself out of contention at Feyenoord, so he’s unsurprisingly welcomed the switch. ‘This is a good solution for me,’ says Saidi. ‘I’m moving to a top-class league and stay in the picture for the World Cup.’

‘My body is screaming for games,’ Saidi admitted recently in an interview with Feyenoord Krant. The Tunisian had a great freshman season at De Kuip, but international commitments meant he missed preseason, and once he returned to Rotterdam Greene and Bahia had already become Erwin Koeman’s first-choice central defensive partnership.
