ROMEO CASTELEN’S YEAR ENDS EARLY

Romeo Castelen will be unavailable for selection until post-winter break after the midfielder suffered a setback in his rehab. Castelen’s hamstring will now keep him out of Feyenoord’s tough December schedule, which spans five matches, including home games against the Eredivisie’s top two, PSV and AZ. ‘To allow the injury to heal fully, we are bearing in mind that he will not play again this year,’ says club doctor Robbart van Linschoten.

Castelen has not played for the Rotterdammers since 6 November, after suffering his second hamstring injury of the season playing for the Dutch Under 21s. He was also forced out for a number of weeks at the start of the season with a similar problem. When he has played, however, Castelen has been productive, netting five goals in eight appearances.
