Feyenoord have lost three times this campaign, but all three came in the most recent away games, so Erwin Koeman and Co will be gunning to end that particular little run Sunday at Willem II. Koeman himself does not think that his squad is reading too much into that negative sequence. ´I don't feel that it's a big thing in the group, but it can creep in of course,´ admitted the coach Friday.
Feyenoord will be looking to rinse out the bad taste left after the defeat in Waalwijk with a good display and a haul of points in Tilburg. Koeman looked back on last week's loss Friday. ´Up to now in the league we've won seven games and lost two. That is reasonably good. Only last Sunday's disappointment has had any lasting effect. The attitude was not right and RKC created far too much. We have to mix things up in our actions and link-up play more. Them creating a lot also had to do with us losing the ball early up front. We so metimes tried something before the rest could get up and we used the long ball too often. We could have made things more difficult for our opponents.´
The coach is looking for a good performance from his side to show that RKC was just a one-off. In doing so he'll most likely be able to count on Patrick Lodewijks, who is now back in full training. ´It's looking good and I think that Patrick will be fit on Sunday. But then again I said that last week and then he suffered a setback. But in principle he'll be involved.´ The same goes for Dirk Kuyt. The striker left training early Friday with a calf problem, but within a few hours Koeman was able to say that his top scorer would be ready to face Willem II.
The most interesting position on the pitch will be left back. Koeman opted for Ferne Snoyl last week, dropping Pascal Bosschaart in what was felt to be a surprise. Only Sunday will tell whether he did that for tactical reasons or whether he's ready to give Snoyl a longer run in the team.
