SHERIF GETS DE KUIP ALL TO HIMSELF

Sherif Ekramy was the only member of the playing staff at De Kuip Wednesday. The keeper is still troubled by a knee injury, so he spent a day training with rehab trainer Denis Lion while the rest of the squad had a day off. ‘I feel a lot better and I may join the group this week,’ said the Egyptian, who only got back into training Tuesday after picking up the injury last week.

The keeper was in pain every time he dived for a ball before the weekend. The annoying thing was that I wasn’t able to take any painkillers during the day because of Ramadan, which made it quite tough. It meant I had to take it easy. The pain was on the outside of the knee and every time I went to the ground I felt it. Now it’s thankfully going a lot better and there’s less pain. It was still tender today but I am very hopeful about joining the squad soon.’
