SHINJI ONO BACK TO THE OPERATING THEATRE

Shinji Ono is set to undergo new surgery in Japan. The news came after the midfielder ravelled to his homeland earlier in the week for a consultation on his foot. Examinations showed that the player’s metatarsus has healed completely, but Ono has been increasingly troubled by the screw placed in his foot to help the joint heal. ‘Due to the increasing irritation by the screw the decision has been taken to remove it prematurely,’ explained club doctor Robbart van Linschoten.

‘That will happen in Japan at the end of the week,’ continued Van Linschoten. ‘We expect Shinji to be able to return at the start of December.’
