GIBBS OUT FOR REST OF THE YEAR AFTER OP NO. 2

Cory Gibbs underwent a second operation on his left knee Monday in the United States. The decision to perform a second surgical intervention came after the defender developed knee-joint problems during the rehab process. The operation showed that Gibbs has damaged his knee cartilage. It all means that the American will not be available to play until after the winter break. Gibbs will start his rehab in Miami, close to his family and his doctor.

Cory Gibbs developed the injury representing the USA last summer. After surgery in Miami the player looked to be recovering well, but after suffering a setback in Rotterdam he consulted the surgeon Stateside. ‘At Cory’s urging, the decision was taken to perform a exploratory operation,’ says club doctor Robbart van Linschoten. ‘The surgeon found new damage in the cartilage of his left knee. That means that Cory will basically have to start his rehab from the top again and will presumably only return after the winter break.’
