NOW KUYT AND ÖSTLUND REPORT BACK

The Feyenoord squad is back to full strength after the return of the last two internationals Thursday. Dirk Kuyt joined the day’s second training session, while Alexander Östlund arrived by taxi around half past three for a run to loosen up. The Swede was on cloud nine after his country’s vital win in Hungary and Croatia’s hiccup against Malta, who grabbed a draw. ‘We can now almost not fail to make the World Cup, even if we lose to the Croats next month,’ says the right back.

‘Things are going great for me right now,’ continued Östlund. ‘I may be about to play my first World Cup, something I’m really looking forward to. We are so close, really nothing can go awry. Things are also going perfectly at Feyenoord. The win against Ajax was a big boost. Now we have to concentrate completely on Sunday when NEC visit.’

Östlund played the full ninety in Sweden’s single-goal slaying of Hungary. Kuyt was given a rest by Marco van Basten.
