‘The confidence is back,’ said a satisfied Feyenoord head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Friday afternoon, two days ...
Hosssam Ghaly will be leaving Feyenoord’s training camp earlier than the rest of the squad. The Egyptian international is scheduled to fly back to Cairo via Beijing Saturday, although he expects to be back in Rotterdam by Tuesday. Ghaly will be accompanied by teammate and countryman Ekramy, who needs to go back to his homeland to complete a number of formalities with respect his work permit. Technical director Mark Wotte will also be jetting out of China on Saturday, although his flight will be bound for Holland.
Ghaly will still be in the country when Feyenoord take on Uruguay’s Nacional Friday. The Rotterdammers need a point from that game to win the tournament after Espanyol and Nacional played out a 1-1 draw in their game, which was blotted by a sending off on each side.
Meanwhile, stomach flu has hit the Feyenoord delegation. Club doctor Van Linsschoten is being confronted with more and more cases, despite preventive steps by the medical staff. Danko Lazovic is the worst affected up to now – he was forced to miss a day of training, but appears to be back to health now.
