Feyenoord arrived in China Friday. The Rotterdammers sped to their hotel, which will serve as the club’s base during the nine-day training camp in Nanjing, a city with a five million population. Erwin Koeman’s squad made the city an hour late after an eighteen-hour journey from Rotterdam. But despite the trek, the players can look forward to two training sessions Saturday. The first match is scheduled Sunday at 19.30 local time, which is half past one in the afternoon in Holland.
The temperature was around thirty degrees Celsius in the city Friday afternoon, but the humidity made the atmosphere much less pleasant. That hasn’t stopped Koeman from putting together a tough schedule for his charges however.
Feyenoord will be training twice a day, excepting coming Sunday and next Friday, when the club takes on Espanyol and Nacional respectively. Those two matches have been arranged to mark the opening of the new Nanjing Olympic Sports Center.
