SHERIF MAKES TRAINING PITCH DEBUT

Egypt goalie Sherif Ekramy trained with the Feyenoord squad for the first time Friday morning. It also marked the first time that keepers trainer Pim Doesburg was able to work with all three shot-stoppers, Aerts, Lodewijks and Ekramy. The new man admitted afterwards that he’d enjoyed himself. ‘It went great actually. I felt that I was handling it well,’ said Ekramy, who arrived on Dutch soil Thursday after his papers came through.

‘Should I be?’ laughed Ekramy guardedly, when asked whether he was tired. When he was told that Doesburg has a reputation for putting his charges through their paces the Egyptian was more forthcoming. ‘Then there’ll be a lot to come. Today’s training was not light, but I’m not too tired right now.’
