BABOS IN NEC DEAL

Gábor Babos has agreed to join NEC in a one-season deal. The goalie had a disappointing first campaign at De Kuip after his arrival from NAC Breda. The 2004 Goalkeeper of the Year was made first choice by Ruud Gullit, but was edged aside by Patrick Lodewijks on more than one occasion as the season unfurled. The loan paves the way for Egyptian Sherif Ekramy to join Feyenoord’s first-team squad, reversing the club’s original decision to farm the 22-year-old keeper out to Excelsior.

The club’s third keeper Maikel Aerts also hooks up with the Rotterdammers on 1 July after spending the past season at RBC Roosendaal, despite signing a deal with Feyenoord during the season just ended.
