ÖSTLUND BOLSTERS FEYENOORD DEFENCE

Feyenoord have dipped into the transfer market once more ahead of the return to action after the winter break, securing the signature of Swedish international Alexander Östlund from Hammarby. The right back penned a four-and-a-half-year deal after undergoing a medical and is available for selection against Vitesse in Sunday’s Eredivisie clash. Östlund’s matches at the European Championships last summer included an impressive performance against Arjen Robben when the Swedes lost to the Dutch on penalties in the quarters.

Technical Director Mark Wotte has since tracked the defender in Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia in September and after studying videos of the player together with Ruud Gullit and Commercial Manager Sjaak Troost—a former right back himself—Wotte made his move.
