DE KUIP AGREES BUFFEL DEAL WITH IBROX

Feyenoord and Glasgow Rangers have reached agreement on the immediate transfer of Thomas Buffel to the Gers. The deal now rests on the striker agreeing personal terms. Buffel joined the Rotterdammers as a teenager, and first grabbed the eye over the other side of the city at Excelsior before moving back to De Kuip. But despite two fine seasons and 32 goals for the Maassiders, the Belgian international has spent much of this campaign under Ruud Gullit on the bench due to the explosive form of Salomon Kalou.

Buffel would not be the second Feyenoorder to make a one-way trip to Glasgow. Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Bert Konterman both left De Kuip for Ibrox in the nineties, while Henrik Larsson opted for green over blue, joining Celtic in the same decade.
