PORTUGUESE TEST FOR FEYENOORD

The draw for the round of 32 in this season's Uefa Cup has pitted Feyenoord against Sporting Clube de Portugal, better known as Sporting Lisbon. The Rotterdammers are away in the first leg, which is scheduled on 16 or 17 February, with the return in De Kuip a week later. And with European football's ruling body taking the opportunity to draw the round of 16 too, Ruud Gullit now knows that victory against the Portuguese will land his side a two-legged encounter with Grazer AK or Middlesbrough.

Feyenoord last locked horns with Sporting back in 1985-1986 in the old Uefa Cup and the Portuguese proved the stronger of the two on that occasion. The green and whites posted a 3-1 win on home soil before limiting Feyenoord to a 2-1 win in Rotterdam to progress to the next round.
