SAIDI EXTENDS DE KUIP DEAL

Feyenoord and Karim Saidi have agreed a new deal that keeps the Tunisian in Rotterdam until 2009. Saidi joined the club in the close season and has become a regular in the first team, which goes a long way to explaining the defender’s record-breaking achievement. Because he’s the first player to extend his contract in his freshman season at De Kuip. ‘It was a surprise for me too,’ admitted Saidi. ‘I’m very happy with this. It expresses the confidence of the club’s management and I’m very grateful for that.’

The player is currently unavailable through injury, but hopes to be back to fitness by the time Schalke ’04 visit next week. ‘I hope I’m fit in time for that game. Yesterday I saw Schalke '04 on TV against Ferencavaros. They have strong strikers, guys I like to play against. I hope I’ll make it.’
