‘The confidence is back,’ said a satisfied Feyenoord head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Friday afternoon, two days ...
Feyenoord will face RBC Roosendaal on Saturday without Shinji Ono. The midfielder is suffering from an ankle injury he picked up against FC Utrecht. ‘Shinji will not be playing against RBC and will not be on the bench,’ said Ruud Gullit Friday. ‘We are hard at work on a solution for tomorrow,’ confirmed the coach, who has been testing various Ono-less scenarios in training this week. ‘It is pure bad luck that we are without Ghaly and Ono at the same time.’
Chong-Gug Song took over from Ono against FC Utrecht and did well despite the result, but Gullit is aware that the Korean is a very different player to the Japanese. ‘Song is much more of a controlling player, like Bosschaart and Pardo.’
It looks increasingly likely that Thomas Buffel will return to the starting eleven, although Magrão is another option.
