Feyenoord arrived at Sandefjord airport in Norway a little after noon Wednesday ahead of club’s Thursday Uefa Cup meet with Odd Grenland. Coach Ruud Gullit is set to hold a press conference at the Odd stadium at 6pm (available for viewing on this site), and a training session is scheduled at 7pm. The Dutch party includes a special guest: former Rotterdam mayor Bram Peper, who speaks fluent Norwegian and considers the country to be his second homeland.
Feyenoord’s Scandinavian stay will be a short one, with the group scheduled to jet back to Rotterdam soon after the final whistle Thursday evening.
‘That’s because we have another game against Utrecht on Sunday,’ explained assistant coach Henk Duut at airport arrivals. ‘By leaving immediately after the match on Thursday we don’t need to miss a day of training. Now we can train as usual at 3pm Friday afternoon and do something on Saturday too. That’s nice, because the team has to be completely fresh and fit against Utrecht.’
