THREE-MATCH BAN FOR GHALY

The KNVB’s disciplinary committee has handed Hossam Ghaly an unconditional three-match ban, with the threat of a one-match extension. The ban comes after the committee decided that the Egyptian had intentionally elbowed Danny Matthijssen in Feyenoord’s recent away fixture at Willem II. Ghaly could theoretically appeal the decision, but that does not look like it will happen. The punishment is actually milder than the original demand for a four-match ban with an additional suspended one-match ban.

Ghaly will now miss the Eredivisie matches against FC Twente, FC Utrecht and RBC.
