Friday saw Feyenoord and PSV agreed terms for the transfer of Edwin Zoetebier to the Eindhoven club. The 34-year old keeper played 59 competitive matches for Feyenoord over two spells. He first kept goal at De Kuip in the 1997-8 season, when he arrived back in the Netherlands after a period at English outfit Sunderland. Zoeterbier subsequently shipped out east to Arnhem to guard the net at Vitesse, before returning to Rotterdam two seasons later.
It was during this second stretch that Zoets won a Uefa Cup winner’s medal with Feyenoord, after a dramatic 3-2 final win against German giants Borussia Dortmund IN May 2002.
Zoetebier was facing a tough season at De Kuip, with competition from Gabor Babos and Patrick Lodewijks, both of whom were further up the pecking order.
