SOUTH KOREA FALL FOWL OF TURKEY

Feyenoord’s Chong-Gug Song played from the start, but he couldn’t prevent Turkey taking all the feathers with a 1-0 win in Seoul Wednesday. The game was a great opportunity for the home side to revenge the defeat suffered against the Turks in the third-place place-off at the 2002 World Cup. But in the end, a Hakan Sukur strike broke Korean hearts again. The Koreans will not have to wait another two years to take aim at Turkey however, as the countries are scheduled to meet again this Saturday.

An encounter with Vietnam follows, as Korea revs up for the Asian Cup, which is set to kick off in six weeks’ time.
