BRAZILIAN REHAB FOR JEAN

Jean Carlos Dondé will spend the coming months in Brazil with the club’s permission. The left flanker tore a muscle in his upper leg early in the year and then also suffered a calf muscle injury. Complications have slowed down Dondé’s return to fitness, which led to the decision to allow him to leave for his homeland Wednesday. ‘Jean’s rehab was not going without difficulty,’ says club doctor Robbart van Linschoten. ‘He suffered setbacks and that understandably frustrated him.’

‘He won’t be match fit before the end of the season, so in consultation with Mark Wotte we have now decided to let him continue his rehab at home.’

Jean Carlos Dondé suggested that Feyenoord would be getting a better player back at the beginning of next season. ‘Many players find it tough during their first year abroad. In the system we played this year, as a real Brazilian left back I wasn’t able to show what I could do. But who knows what will happen next year with Ruud Gullit. So I still want very much to show that I can be of value to Feyenoord.’
