FEYENOORD SIGN CONTRACT WITH WESTERLO

Feyenoord Chairman Jorien van den Herik and Herman Wijnands, Chairman of Belgian First Division club Westerlo, put their signatures to a one-year partnership agreement Friday morning. The deal also includes a clause that allows the Rotterdammers to extend the agreement for a further two years. The two clubs have agreed to cooperate on the development of non-EU players that will be contracted by Feyenoord.

Jorien van den Herik expressed his delight at the deal to the Belgian press in Westerlo, where the contract was signed. The partnership is an ideal occasion for Feyenoord to bring through talented youngsters from outside of the EU at a market price. In the Netherlands prices have gone through the roof due to new legislation. Feyenoord expects to give Polish, Ghanaian and South African youngsters contracts and then lodge them at Westerlo.
