FEYENOORD CHASING NINE FROM NINE

FC Twente visit De Kuip Sunday to face a Feyenoord side that has posted two successive wins. A third would be no luxury, as the Rotterdammer’s attempt to make up ground at the top of the Eredivisie. Feyenoord were given a dressing down in Enschede not so long ago, losing 2-4, so the home team will surely be fired up to prove that they are better than that result would suggest.

Sunday’s match is the first of two in three days against FC Twente, who entertain Feyenoord on Tuesday in the Amstel Cup, and a win will be vital there too, if Feyenoord are to keep their season alive. Chong-Gug Song was troubled by his hamstring in Wednesday’s win at NEC, but he’s fit enough to play. Among the injuries is second keeper Edwin Zoetebier and of course Shinji Ono. The Japanese will move outdoors in his rehab programme in the next few days, although it will be a week before the player can hook up with the group. Closer to a return is Anthony Lurling, who is expected to join his squad-mates Thursday. HOLLAND CASINO EREDIVISIE, SUNDAY 1 FEBRUARY 2004 FEYENOORD-FC TWENTE Kick-off: 12.30 pm Venue: De Kuip Probable teams Feyenoord: Lodewijks; Song, Van Wonderen, Paauwe, Van Haaren; Smolarek, Pardo, Schreuder, Van Persie; Buffel en Kuyt.
