ROB BAAN AND FEYENOORD PART

Technical director Rob Baan and the Feyenoord board have agreed to end their relationship with immediate effect. ‘We are now negotiating with his representative Jan Reker on the conditions,’ says chairman Jorien van den Herik. ‘One of the reasons for the departure is that we have different opinions on the football policy and there is too little confidence on this matter within the organisation for the future.’

Coach Bert van Marwijk will remain until the end of the season, but has asked Feyenoord not to use the option of a fifth year. ‘I continue to be fully motivated to get this team to end as high as possible. I know the performance standard of Feyenoord like no one else. And then I’ll take on a new challenge elsewhere.’ Chairman Van den Herik spoke with Rob Baan in the presence of board member Willem Scholten and with coach Bert van Marwijk in the presence of manager Jan D. Swart. Feyenoord hopes to appoint a new technical director within the foreseeable future and to reveal Van Marwijk’s replacement for the 2004-5 season. Interviews will begin very soon.
