ONO INJURY NOT SERIOUS

The injury that forced Shinji Ono out of Sunday’s match at Ajax in the first half is not serious. The Japanese international got in the way of a Robin van Persie piledriver, which felled the player, but appears not to have done him any lasting damage. ‘Ono has quite a bit of bruising around the ‘soft’ tissue,’ explained doctor Van Linschoten. ‘The muscles in his upper stomach are painful, but there’s nothing serious.’

Ono was conveyed to hospital immediately, but once there it was revealed that the midfielder had not done any serious damage. ‘Shinji lost consciousness for a moment or two, but that was due to the pain, because he was hit on the head by the ball. The next game is quite a long way off, but I’m assuming that he’ll be able to play against ADO.’ Shinji Ono is now back home.
