EVEN-STEVENS IN AFRO-ASIAN MEET

Japan was unable to tame the lions of Cameroon in Oita in the country’s latest international friendly, despite coach Zico giving Shinji Ono a full ninety-minute run-out. In front of 45,000 spectators, there were chances for both teams, with Japan giving the visitors a tough game but things still ended goalless. Ono was not expected to play due to a recent knee injury that delayed the Feyenoorder’s journey to his homeland by 48 hours.

Ono lined up alongside Japan’s other Europe-based players – including Inamoto, Nakata, Takahara and FC Utrecht’s Fujita.
