ALFRED SCHREUDER ADDED TO SQUAD

Alfred Schreuder will play his home games at the Kuip for the foreseeable future after signing a three-year contract with Feyenoord. The 30-year-old midfielder comes from NAC Breda. Schreuder will join up with his new team-mates as early as Friday and is eligible to make his debut in Saturday’s friendly against Celta de Vigo in Rotterdam. It’s a return to base for the player who started his career at the club in the early nineties.

Coach Van Marwijk declared ‘I am very happy to have him,’ while Schreuder himself spoke of his own delight. ‘I’m proud to be back at Feyenoord. I want to show exactly what I’m capable of. Time will tell whether I make the first team. Feyenoord has 25 to 30 good players. In any event, I’m older than most of the players and a lot of big names have left. With my experience I may be able to provide extra communication within the group.’ Schreuder has scored 15 goals in 304 professional starts.
