DEFENCE REINFORCED AT THE KUIP

Feyenoord strengthened the backline Saturday with the signing of Peter van den Berg from RKC Waalwijk. The 33-year-old put his signature to a two-year contract, with an option for a third season and will hook up with his new teammates at the Rotterdammers’ Austrian training camp Tuesday. Interestingly, the move entails a family reunion, as both of the player’s parents work at the Kuip. Indeed, Van den Berg himself is a Feyenoord fan through and through.

Peter van den Berg has played 297 games as a professional and has seven goals to his name. The breakdown: six years at Excelsior, two at Cambuur Leeuwarden, three at AZ and a further three at RKC.
