The Feyenoord International Youth Tournament unfolded this holiday weekend at the Kuip in Rottterdam. The tournament brought together the home side, fellow Dutch teams Vitesse and PSV, Spain’s Espanyol, Paris St Germain from France, the Italians Chievo Verona and the national youth teams of Ghana and Algeria. Eventual winners were PSV, beating Paris St Germain in the final by 2-1. Feyenoord earned third with a penalty shootout win against Chievo Verona.

The Rotterdammers had most of the third place playoff against Chievo Verona, but not for the first time at the Kuip a Dutch attack couldn’t break down an Italian defence in normal time. Hero was keeper Hogedoorn, who stopped the visitors’ sixth penalty, leaving Van den Boogaart to net the winner.
