FEYENOORD, URAWA REDS SHARE SPOILS IN SAITAMA

The first game of Feynoord’s mini tour of Southeast Asia ended in stalemate Wednesday. Mariano Bombarda grabbed both Rotterdam goals in a 2-2 draw. Shinji Ono was presented with the Asian Football of the Year award ahead of the game, but had to leave the field after 20 minutes. Leonardo dos Santos was his replacement. Jeppe Curth, Dustley Mulder and Rory de Groot all made their Feyenoord debuts in a game almost completely dominated by the visitors.

Feyenoord took the lead on 15 with a goal from Mariano Bombarda. 'We had full control in the first half,’ Bert van Marwijk confirmed. ‘But we should have scored two or three more.’ The second goal came 13 minutes into the second period and it was Bombarda again who netted. The goal saw Feyenoord take its foot off the pedal and Urawa Reds leveled things within three minutes with goals from Tanaka and the Brazilian Emerson. Feyenoord controlled the rest of the contest and Van Marwijk took his chance to blood the youngsters Mulder, Curth and De Groot.
