INTERNATIONALS FLY OUT

Rotterdam bade farewell to Feyenoord Monday, but it was au revoir rather than goodbye. The group that set off in the direction of Schiphol airport to catch the long-haul flight to Japan was a few players light, including the internationals Paul Bosvelt, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Bonaventure Kalou, Thomas Buffel and Kike Acuña, who are all set to hook up with their respective fellow countrymen over the next few days for international duty.

Besides the injured Kees van Wonderen, Ebi Smolarek, Ramon van Haaren, Carlo l'Ami, Pieter Collen and Leonardo Santiago, other players who did not travel are Brett Emerton and Christian Gyan. Emerton is set to jet out to Aussie ahead of his marriage coming Saturday. Chris Gyan misses the trip for personal reasons. Leonardo dos Santos Silva does make the trip to South East Asia. The Brazilian has been loaned out to De Graafschap for the past six months, but with the season ended, he returns to the Feyenoord fold.
