KIM SET FOR FAREWELL GAME

Nam-Il Kim will pull on the black shirt of Excelsior for the last time at the weekend when Feyenoord’s satellite club take on Vitesse. That’s because the international has been called up for Korea’s 31 May game with Japan in Tokyo. And if Excelsior have to fight for survival in the playoffs they will do it without the trialist, as Feyenoord have decided to allow the player to find another club, most likely in Germany.

As a trialist, Kim has bolstered the Excelsior team on eight occasions since the winter break, but has failed to halt the club’s slide to second bottom of the Eredivise. The technical staff at the Kuip have been unimpressed with the player, who has a huge following in his native country, and have consequently decided not to offer Kim a contract. Feyenoorder Chong-Gug Song is definitely out of the reckoning for a callup to play in the biggest game in east Asia, as Korea coach Coelho has already admitted that the Rotterdammers’ 1 June Amstel Cup final date with FC Utrecht has precedence.
