TOMASZ BREATHES OUT AFTER TENSION FILLED WEEKS

It’s been an exciting few weeks for the Rzasa family after the egg hatched on Easter Sunday and the Tomasz and Sylwia’s second child Weronika was born at Rotterdam’s Clara hospital. The little bundle of joy is another page in Tomasz’s Rotterdam scrapbook. ‘Both my children were born here and I won a UEFA Cup here, what more can anyone wish for? That’s why this city will always be in my heart.’

‘I am so happy. She is our second child after Patryk and we now have a model nuclear family. Someone told me that only lucky people get a boy and a girl and we feel like sovereigns. ’I trained with the squad as usual the Saturday before Easter and I’d already been told I’d be in Sunday’s squad against FC Zwolle. But on Saturday evening the doctor decided that the child had to come out on Sunday. I called the coach and said that I wanted to be present. He understood completely and wished me all the luck and support in the world. You family comes before everything, he said and that is so. ’Sylwia ended up in the same hospital room as Patryk was born in and that was reassuring. She gave birth at 3.31 pm. The nurse just had time to tell me that Feyenoord were 2-1 ahead at Zwolle so I didn’t have to worry about that. But honestly speaking I wasn’t thinking about that, the birth of your child beats anything. Football matters are completely subordinate to something like that.’
