Bert van Marwijk rested a number of players ahead of Sunday’s big game at Ajax, with Emerton, De Nooijer, Pardo and Buffel all sitting this one out.
That gave Loovens, Gyan and Lurling the opportunity to pull on the red and white shirt against a side that will play first division football for the first time next season.
The home side found themselves with a lot of space from the first whistle, but couldn’t conjure up an opening goal until deep into the half. Van Persie was the first to go close with a rasping drive from twenty metres out that cracked against the bar. Then Van Hooijdonk failed to convert either of two chances as the home fans started to get restless.
The atmosphere didn’t get any better when Glenn Loovens let in Lopes with a poor backpass, but the AGOVV striker was unable to net. It should have been the sign for Feyenoord to turn off the cruise control and get into gear, but it took a hefty chant from the Legion to get the home side back on track.
Lurling finally found a way through the away defence three minutes before the break. Then, on the stroke of half time Van Persie doubled the lead.
Van Persie scored his second just after the break, giving Bert van Marwijk the chance to pull off Van Wonderen and Van Hooijdonk, as Rzasa and Bombarda entered the arena.
Feyenoord continued to dominate however, and Van Persie continued to score. A fine drive in the bottom corner put the home side four up within an hour.
Van Persie went on to add two more within five minutes as Feyenoord pulled away, but local hero Jurrick Juliana managed to score a consolation for the visitors two minutes before the end to give the amateurs some cheer.
