FEYENOORD JOINS FORCES WITH NTT/DOCOMO

Japanese telecom giant NTT/DoCoMo has signed a sponsorship agreement with Feyenoord, which takes immediate effect. In the Netherlands and Europe NTT/DoCoMo is the name behind the mobile Internet technology i-mode, which boasts around 35 million users in Japan. KPN partner NTT/DoCoMo wants to realise its European ambitions with Feyenoord. Boards advertising the now well-known i-mode ‘I’ were prominent at Sunday’s game at the Kuip.

Feyenoord chairman Jorien van den Herik expressed his joy at the deal. ‘This is a significant step forward for Feyenoord. We are delighted to have NTT DoCoMo as a sponsor and it illustrates the commercial and technical growth that our club has realized in South–East Asia.’ NTT DoCoMo managing director Keiji Tachikawa was similarly pleased. ‘We opened a branch in Amsterdam last year, for the continued development of i–mode in Europe. So we are delighted that we have been able to forge an alliance with a prominent club like Feyenoord. We look forward to enriching the Eredivisie with this collaboration.’
