BOSVELT SETS CELTIC TARGET

Feyenoord will pit their wits against FC Nürnberg without Paul Bosvelt in tonight’s Maspalomas International Tournament final. The club captain is still suffering from a bruised fibula and has now set his sights on a return to the team that takes on Celtic next Wednesday in Glasgow. ‘Paul is still losing a lot of blood,’ club doctor Van Linschoten explained, ‘that has to be channelled off before he can play again.’

The Feyenoord captain picked up the injury on the second day of the Gran Canaria training camp, after colliding with assistant coach John Metgod. The Dutch international trained on his own Thursday. ‘I don’t want to take any unnecessary risks,’ Bosvelt said. The player is restricted to a spot of running on the dirt track at the stadium where Feyenoord are set to take on Nürnberg this evening.
