JOE CANNON NOT THE MAN

Feyenoord will not be pursuing their interest in Joe Cannon. The American goalkeeper joined the squad at the start of the week and made an good impression on keepers trainer Pim Doesburg, but not good enough to warrant a contract with the Rotterdammers. Cannon will stay with the squad on Gran Canaria and make the journey back to Holland together with his agent as planned, in the hope of attracting interest from other Eredivisie clubs.

It appears that Cannon is not quite up to scratch right now and that is the reason why the club has decided to pass on the American. Football Affairs Manager Hans Hagelstein explained that the club is looking for someone who can walk straight into the squad and Cannon isn’t quite the finished article yet. ‘Joe has shown that he is a good keeper, but he has to work on some parts of his game to play at our level. Feyenoord doesn’t have that time to give him.’
